The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bandar Seri Begawan strongly condemns the brutal and illegal military aggression by the United States against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities. This criminal act constitutes a flagrant, unprecedented, and extremely dangerous violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the national sovereignty of a full UN member state.
This act of aggression violates Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. It also constitutes a direct breach of UNSC Resolution 2231 (2015), which endorses the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and affirms commitments to peaceful nuclear cooperation and non-intervention. Furthermore, it undermines the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), as the attacked nuclear facilities were under full safeguards and oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In addition, it grossly violates the fundamental principle of sovereign equality of states under international law.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, while reaffirming its inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, holds the United States fully responsible for the grave consequences of this unlawful aggression and its blatant violations of international norms.
In this critical moment, the Islamic Republic of Iran urges responsible members of the international community to take a clear and principled stand in defense of the UN Charter, the rule of law, and the sovereignty of nations. The international order must not be allowed to fall victim to the reckless actions of a state that disregards all norms in pursuit of destructive geopolitical goals.
